"Stone is a strong songwriter and singer, as convincing embodying the psyche of a famous bank robber in the opening song as he is that of a college-town hippie slacker in the disarmingly rousing anthem that closes out the set"
- Lone Star Music Magazine
Troy Stone is a singer/songwriter based out of central Texas. Growing up listening to a variety of country and rock n roll influences from Merle Haggard to Tom Petty to Townes Van Zandt to Led Zepplin, Troy's sound is an Americana blend of folk story-telling, country soul, and rock n roll edge. Troy began honing his craft at Cheatham Street Warehouse with the help of Texas songwriting legend Kent Finlay. In 2011 he formed The Hill Country Gentlemen who recorded two records and were regulars at historic venues like Gruene Hall, The Saxon Pub, Cheatham Street Warehouse, and Poodie's Roadhouse before dissolving in 2016.
Troy plays solo shows and shows with his band, Troy Stone & the Spent Shells. Solo shows generally include an acoustic guitar, microphone, and harmonica rack, with percussion provided a tambourine on his right foot, and a stomp-box under his left. Troy Stone & the Spent Shells is a 4 to 5 piece band including Troy on lead vocals, rhythm guitar, and harmonicas. Clay Scott Rheinlander on drums, Bryan Cooper on bass, Michael Reeh on lead guitar, and SlimBawb Pearce on pedal steel.
Troy is currently working on his first solo record.
